There are tons of factors that Google uses to rank pages. What are the rules of search engine optimization?

Build up incoming links. This is a well known factor and continues to play a major role on affecting page rank.

Focus on 2 or 3 keywords and tune up the pages based on them. Don’t keyword stuffing.

Build links between sub-domains if any.

Use keywords in domain name and URL.

Use hyphens in URL.

Use keywords in title and description tags.

Use keywords in H1, H2 and H3 tags.

Control keyword density around 10%.

Update pages frequently. Don’t make them live online and then never touch them again.
